SHETLAND Arts are looking forward to welcoming Norman & Corrie for an evening of music in Mareel on Saturday 6 April 2024 at 7:30pm.
The Scottish contemporary folk duo will welcome the audience behind the curtain for the live recording of their debut album of lesser-known local fiddle music; the culmination of their residency in Shetland. With their unique setup including drums, saxophone and organ foot pedals, they translate ancestral melodies for the modern era giving the tunes renewed meaning.
While challenging traditional notions of folk music, Norman & Corrie hold dear the qualities that have made this genre timeless: honesty, resilience, and a deep connection to life's stories.
The duo have swiftly built a reputation for delivering captivating concerts filled with spontaneity, heart, and an extraordinary connection that defies their youth. Their performances consistently leave audiences feeling uplifted and inspired. With diverse backgrounds and a spirit of exploration, their performances transport listeners to a time when life moved at a slower, more deliberate pace, for an immersive experience.
Tickets for Norman & Corrie cost £15 and are available to purchase online here, in-person at the Box Office in Mareel, or by calling on 01595 745 500 during opening hours of 10am-9pm, Tuesday - Sunday.
