UNEXPECTED SITES is the third project in a four-year gallery education programme supported by Children & the Arts as part of their Start Programme, delivered by Shetland Arts in partnership with SIC Creative Links.

The project involves five target schools in Shetland: Sandwick JH School, Aith JH School, Fetlar Primary School, Brae JH School and Whalsay School, working with a total of c.300 pupils from 5-14 years of age.

Amy Gear graduated with an MA in Printmaking from the Royal College of Art in 2015, and currently lives and works in Shetland. Her practice explores possible (and impossible) relationships between land and the body, knotting together notions of identity, language, knowledge and imagination.

Amy has been working with pupils from each school to explore their surroundings in two and three dimensions, mapping journeys and unexpected sites along the way.
