Shetland Arts is delighted to announce that literature fans can now, for the first year ever, purchase special discount packages for its annual book festival Wordplay.

Wordplay 2012 features guests such as Sally Magnusson, Norman Stone, Val McDermid, Ron Pretty, Jim Mainland, Angus Reid, John Burnside, Rodge Glass, Luke Jennings, Christine De Luca, Karin Altenberg,  Neil Butler and Robin Robertson.

Bibliophiles both young and old alike will benefit from the new special family ticket (£18 for 4 tickets, must be 1 adult in the party) available for Sally Magnusson and Norman Stone’s family event ‘Horace the Haggis.’

Sally Magnusson

Horace the Haggis, homeless and hunted, finds refuge among the animals of Acre Valley. But Angus McPhee, chief of the haggis-hunters, and his deadly cat are out to trap him.

Horace the Haggis gives children a world of fun, adventure, secrets and unforgettable characters and is both comfortingly timeless and engagingly modern. And in Acre Valley the exploits of Horace and his friends will have you laughing one minute and on the edge of your seat the next. Illustrated by the author's husband and based on ideas from their own children, this is a family book for other families to read together and enjoy.

Author Sally Magnusson and illustrator Norman Stone will take you into the amazing world of Horace the Haggis and friends, with readings, on-the-spot drawings and even some animation. Stand by for a personal appearance by a larger-than-life Horace the Haggis himself.

The event is suitable for ages 5-9, children must be accompanied by an adult.

And those who would like to see more events will delight in the new festival package: £40 (£30 concessions) to attend all 7 paid events during the festival. This includes Q&A sessions, readings and talks.

Tickets can be booked via Shetland Box Office, Islesburgh Community Centre, 01595 745 555.
