On Wednesday 20th June at 7.30pm, Shetland Arts will be screening A Separation as the last title in its current Film Wednesday season. Films Wednesdays are an opportunity to see some of the best in independent and world cinema, and they will be resumed when Mareel opens later this summer.
Set in contemporary Iran, this is the emotionally gripping story of a married couple (played by Peyman Moadi and Leila Hatami) who are faced with a difficult decision - to improve the life of their child by moving to another country or to stay in Iran and look after the husband's deteriorating parent who has Alzheimer's Disease.

Asgar Farhadi’s A Separation has been deservedly garlanded with awards from film juries across the world, including an Oscar and a BAFTA. Played with utter dedication by an excellent cast, this film could be an advert for mediation as it demonstrates what happens when communications break down between warring parties, when no-one is there to help them connect.
A Separation carries a PG certificate and is subtitled. Tickets are available from Shetland Box Office at Islesburgh Community Centre, 01595 745555.
