SHETLAND Arts look forward to welcoming Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham to Shetland later this month for three gigs across the isles – in Lerwick, Sandwick and Unst.

Enjoy a traditional gig at Mareel (Friday 27 September) and Carnegie Hall (Saturday 28 September) – or, for a special treat, you can join Aly & Phil at the North Unst Public Hall for Sunday Teas (Sunday 29 September) with a live performance from the duo. Teas are included in the ticket price!

Together, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham have established themselves as the epitome of excellence in the world of traditional music. With their musical magic and quick-witted humour, they will pull your emotional strings one moment and have you falling off the seat with laughter the next!

“Probably the best traditional musicians you are ever likely to hear.” – Mike Russell.

It’s little wonder that these two stalwarts of Scottish traditional music have both been recognised with doctorates and MBEs for their services to music. Aly has brought his musical knowledge to the production of several networked television series, bringing traditional music to a constantly widening audience, while Phil remains in great demand as a composer and presenter of programmes for BBC ranging from music to nature documentaries.

They have toured together since 1988 and created six albums as a duo.

Through living very international lives dedicated to music, these two have learned how to put on a cracking good show and never disappoint. Don’t miss out!

Tickets for Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham cost £25 (Sunday Teas are £33) and are available to purchase online from tickets.shetlandarts.org, in-person at the Box Office in Mareel, or by calling on 01595 745 500 during opening hours of 10am-9pm, Tuesday - Sunday.
