Throughout the spooky month of October, Mareel will be presenting a selection of classic horror films, as voted for by customers!
Screen Focus: Halloween Horrors! is a four film season which includes the original versions of A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Wicker Man and The Evil Dead, and, on Halloween itself, The Shining.
Last month an online poll was shared on Mareel’s Facebook page, asking customers to vote for their favourite from a shortlist of 13 (obviously!). 132 votes were cast, with The Shining coming out the clear favourite.
All four films will be presented in new digital prints, and for many audience members this will be the first time they’ll have seen them on the big screen. The Shining will also be accompanied by a new seven-minute documentary bringing together personal reflections from Kubrick’s collaborators and unseen materials from his personal archives to shed light on this unique cinematic achievement.
