Even Here, Even Now to relaunch later this year

The next phase of the project will relaunch in Shetland, Orkney and the Outer Hebrides in Autumn 2026.

We’re excited to announce that we’ve received funding from Creative Scotland’s Culture Collective Fund and the Scottish Government to support Even Here, Even Now.

The next phase of the project will relaunch in Shetland, Orkney and the Outer Hebrides in Autumn 2026, in partnership with The Pier Arts Centre, An Lanntair and Taigh Chearsabagh.

Even Here, Even Now is an artist-led programme connecting, supporting and advocating for creative practitioners living and working across Scotland’s islands. It builds on the Even Here, Even Now manifesto created by island artists and is developing into a practical inter-island network focused on visibility, opportunity, collaboration and influence.

The next phase will deliver on inter-island connectivity across cultural sectors, providing support and funding for:

  • Development of island based creative practitioners
  • Showcase events nationally in Scotland
  • Facilitating connections between island-based artists
  • Advocacy of island-based artists and their work across our islands, highlighting their value within our communities and beyond

To make the delivery possible, Shetland Arts is currently looking for 3 x Artist Associates and 3 x Creative Advocacy Group members to join the project. These freelance roles will take place over a 6-month period (October 2026 – May 2027).

“Even Here Even Now has just launched into the next stage of the project, which is continuing to grow and strengthen across Scotland’s islands. It is a project that has always been shaped by the artists working and involved in it, so it feels only right that at the very beginning of its next iteration we are welcoming applications from island artists to help shape it’s future and deliver it. These roles advocate for creativity as an integral part of island living and connect artists across the islands.” – Kathryn Gordon, Creative Project Manager
