The Garrison Theatre

A characterful theatre in the heart of Lerwick

With its traditional proscenium arch stage and intimate auditorium, The Garrison is a well-loved part of Shetland’s history. Our calendar of shows features everything from Shetland folk music to contemporary dance, panto fairytales to stand-up icons.

Originally a drill hall, the building became a theatre during the second world war, putting on entertainment for the troops. Today, professional touring shows and local groups alike take to the stage here.

The Garrison is operated by Shetland Arts and owned by the Shetland Charitable Trust.
