This course is designed to allow you to produce creative films using the beautiful and diverse rural landscape of Shetland and Scotland.
The programme will give you the opportunity to collaborate with local communities, arts and cultural industry experts to set up realistic industry links for your future career and employment.
This course is networked across the UHI – you learn through a combination of video conference lectures and tutorials, online study, and face-to-face residential sessions with tutors and students from all across Scotland and beyond.
Subjects studied in this course include:
- Digital editing
- Camera operations
- Pitching
- Documentary making
- History & development of film
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold one of the following:
- 3 Scottish Highers at grade C or above – one in a literary subject (e.g. English, History, Psychology)
- 2 A levels at grade C or above – one in a literary subject
Applicants should also hold:
- National 5/Standard Grade Credit level Computing Science at grade C or above (or equivalent)
Alternatively, Foundation Apprenticeship Creative and Digital Media PLUS an additional Scottish Higher in either English, History or Psychology, at Grade C or above.
Relevant industry experience or understanding of the requirements of film making is also required. You will be required to attend an interview to assess your technical ability.
Applicants with other qualifications or experience will be considered on an individual basis.
