Sauerkraut Seth & The Plantiecrubs

Freda Leask

The singer songwriter makes a fond return to Mareel's stage, following performances in a sold-out tour as part of Shetland Arts' Oot and Aboot programme in 2019. Freda's been busy throughout lockdown, entertaining fans with her favourite song covers, live from her house.

Jenny Sturgeon

Fresh from winning Best Acoustic Album at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2020 with The Living Mountain, Jenny is next in the line-up. Jenny's also been working on a new project called Unlocking our Sound Heritage, which will make its debut in Mareel auditorium in 2021.

The Isaac Webb Trio

Having recently signed to Los Angeles label Wild Records, Isaac and the gang bring some rock 'n' roll groove to the night with a swinging selection of tunes. Isaac is winged by Gary Smith (upright bass) and Gary Smith (upright bass).

Hjaltibonhoga

Firm favourites at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Hjaltibonhoga will perform a special set of fiddle tunes to see in the bells at 12am. You'll see an 18 strong fiddle group on the night, in addition to a video montage of those not able to join the band in the Isles.

Some thoughts from our acts

Gary, Tim and Isaac have been extremely generous with their time and effort in working with me. I made a huge leap to move to Shetland and leave my musical compadres back in the states, and I have felt most welcome. We are all hair pomade enthusiasts, two of us have made it ourselves. Oh and none of us wear wigs.

Sauerkraut Seth

It's great to see music still being produced despite everything - from the likes of Jenny Sturgeon and the Couper brothers. We need music at this time.

Freda Leask

I'm looking forward to lots more music and going to see some gigs next year (and playing some too!). I've got tours planned throughout next year, both with Salt House and my project The Living Mountain.

Jenny Sturgeon

In 2021 we sincerely look forward to having our home gig back in the form of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in August. We look on this as our 'home gig' as it was for the Tattoo in 2014 we came together as a group and will celebrate our 7th Birthday on 18th May next year.
