Shetland folk-rock band The Revellers say they’re looking forward to playing in Mareel on Friday 26October for a special Halloween gig as part of Mareel’s Official Opening Season: The Revellers in Association with Shetland Arts Presents: Halloween with The Revellers. Tickets for the event are selling very well and Shetland Arts and The Revellers are recommending that those interested in attending book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

In honour of the spooky occasion, The Revellers will be dressing up and encouraging the audience to do the same. They’ll be playing classic covers, from The Levellers through to Steve Earle, as well as a number of their own foot-stomping tunes. The group will be supported by First Foot Soldiers.

Craig Birnie, bass player in The Revellers, said: “We felt that there weren’t a lot of Halloween-specific events for adults out there, and we’d always planned to play at Mareel as soon as we could, so this seemed like the perfect way to do it. We approached Shetland Arts when Mareel opened and worked together to come up with this event. It’s already shaping up to be an excellent gig, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone there on the night.”

Shetland Arts Marketing Officer, Lisa Ward, said: “We’re very pleased to be working in association with The Revellers to host such a fun Halloween concert in Mareel. At Mareel we want to showcase both visiting and local talent, and the popularity of this gig demonstrates that the Shetland public has a healthy appetite for good local music as well as visiting artists.”

Halloween with The Revellers is an 18+ only event and doors open at 8pm on Friday 26 October. Tickets cost £12 (£8 concessions) and are available from Shetland Box Office in Mareel and/or Islesburgh Community Centre, over the phone on 01595 745 555, or online here.
