Tickets have been announced for this year’s Hogmanay event at Mareel, hosted by popular ‘Folk/Rock Juggernaut’ The Revellers.
Following on from last year’s success with Fiddlers’ Bid, Shetland Arts have teamed up with the band to produce a celebration of Shetland contemporary and traditional music like no other. The event has received support through Scotland’s Winter Festivals.
The night will begin with a traditional Shetland variety concert, opened by The Revellers performing a paired down acoustic set, followed by performances from Kansa, The Arthur Nicolson Band and Hom Bru amongst others. Partygoers will then be treated to supper, and the chance to catch something in one of the cinema screens, while the stage is re-set for The Revellers to take you ‘back to the future’ in their own unique style, and bring in the bells for Hogmanay 2017. This will be followed by a traditional dance with the Alan Nicolson Dance Band, to welcome in 2018 and start the year off in true Shetland style.

This year really builds on what we started last year with Fiddlers Bid in creating a fun, safe and friendly Hogmanay event that celebrates the best of Shetland’s music scene.’
The Revellers said; "We are delighted to take part in this year's Hogmanay celebration at Mareel. Some of the band were at last year's event hosted by Fiddlers Bid as both performing artistes and concertgoers and all agreed it was a great evening. We hope we can replicate that party atmosphere in our own way for this year's event and really look forward to having a good night with some good friends both on and off-stage to welcome 2018."

Whether it is first footers bringing coal, toasting with a dram at midnight or taking part in an invigorating ‘Loony Dook’ on New Year’s Day, there are many ways for people to come together in celebration”
Two tickets are available for the night, one for the variety concert for £30, and one for the Bells & Dance for £35. A combination package providing access to both elements is also available for £50.
