Shetland Arts regrets that the performance on the 4th November at the Clickimin has had to be postponed.  The performance will be rescheduled for a later date.  Any tickets that have been purchased will be valid for the rescheduled performance or refunds are avaliable from Shetland Box Office.

Shetland Arts is bringing Scotland’s most exciting contemporary dance and modern ballet group to Shetland, The Curve Foundation Dance Company.

Their programme will include the UK Premiere of Passomezzo by acclaimed choreographer Ohad Naharin, a surprising love duet, featuring not only love and ecstasy but mutual competition; O Caritas by Peter Darrell CBE, a classic piece first performed by Scottish Ballet in 1974 which highlights the innocent victims of war and features music by Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens); Close-up by Spanish choreographer Fernando Hernando Magadan, an abstract piece about artistic expression based on the work of Turner Prize winner artist, Martin Creed.

The Curve Foundation Dance Company was founded in 1997 and has been the resident modern dance company of Brunton Theatre in Mussleburgh since 2004.  They have received great critical and public acclaim both at home and on the international circuit.  The Scotsman has given this programme 5 stars describing Passomezzo as ‘A wonderfully quirky piece filled with unusual gestures and subtle wit’.  The Herald has said that it is a ‘cohesive ensemble…with O Caritas emerging as timelessly compelling.’

The Curve Foundation is passionate about producing new and innovative work and has collaborated with many of the world’s most distinguished choreographers including Merce Cunningham, Jan-Bas Bollen and Rui Lopes Graca.  Their director, Ross Cooper, is originally from Dunbar.  He completed his professional training at Ecole de Etoile Rudra Bejart Ballet in Lausanne, Switzerland and has worked with many internationally renowned companies including Royal Opera Ballet, London City Ballet and Tokyo Ballet.

Ross Cooper said “I’m delighted to be coming to Shetland.  The main objective of the company is to take our work to all corners of Scotland and we are committed to taking high calibre work to a diverse range of venues.  I feel that people in Shetland contribute every bit as much to the performances as our audiences in Edinburgh.”

Tickets are £12/£10 and are available at Shetland Box Office in Isleburgh Community Centre, tel: 01595 745555.

Shetland Arts would like to thank Northlink for sponsoring this performance.
