Shetland Arts and Shetland Library are seeking two published author mentors to inspire and support young writers to tell the stories they want to tell. We are looking for writers who can encourage and enable young people develop a piece of work or explore a new way of working, to try a different format or to just share their interest with.

You will:

  • Work with a Shetland Young Writer of the Year competition winner from the 13-19 category.
  • Mentor either a dialect or non-dialect category winner – please let us know if you feel best suited to either category.
  • Have four one hour 1-1 sessions, or the option to make the final session a time to share work with the other mentor and mentee.
  • Mentors will receive £60 for each session. This is £30 per hour and £30 per hour preparation time.

To apply, please send a short statement (max. 300 words) explaining why you would like this opportunity, plus a CV (no more than 2 sides of A4) to [email protected].

Please ensure your applications are submitted by no later than Sunday 12th November 2023.
