Shetland Noir, the isles first ever crime fiction festival, running from 13-15 November this year, has issued a reminder to would-be participants to register before the end of January (31 January) to take advantage of the festival’s Early Bird Deal.

Winter darkness is usually just beginning to grip the isles come November making a perfect setting for a crime writing festival. Whether your interest lies in espionage, forensics, Nordic noir or traditional mystery, there will be something that appeals. The event will be held in Mareel, and by registering via Shetland Box Office participants will gain access to all of the panel events, and to a choice of fringe activities which will include specialist bus tours.

The Crime Fiction Festival will be the first of its kind ever to be held in Shetland and the headliners are: Denise Mina, Stuart MacBride and Alex Gray from Scotland, and Arne Dahl, Yrsa Sigurðardóttir and Hakan Nesser, representing the Nordic countries. Further writers will be announced later this year.

Shetland Noir is held in association with the established, more northerly event Iceland Noir, and is presented by Shetland Arts and Promote Shetland.
