On May 26th we have a visit from the Dumfries based artist Mark Lyken. His latest work Oscillon Response is a combination of electronic music and projected images and is a response to the work of pioneering electronic artist Ben Laposky.
In the 1950s Laposky created a range of beautiful, ethereal images by feeding electronic waves into a cathode ray oscilloscope and photographing the result. Inspired by these images, Lyken has created a performance piece which incorporates his own CRT images and the electronic sounds which produce them. The result is a powerful, immersive experience.
We took the opportunity to call Mark in his studio and ask him to tell us a bit more about his work and the inspiration for it.
