Life Drawing sessions to begin again at Mareel

Shetland Arts’ popular Life Drawing sessions are returning to Mareel this winter, and we are looking for a model. The sessions have been running successfully at Mareel for the past two years, with regular attendees of all abilities enjoying the chance to practise drawing a real life nude model. The classes have a very informal set-up, with artists encouraged to bring their own materials and the poses led by the model. “It was really enjoyable.” said one participant, whilst another praised the “good atmosphere” and “great poses”.

Previous life models have included Floortje Robertson, who said this about her experience: “Although I found it daunting at first, I soon relaxed and started to enjoy the process. This was really because of the artists who came along each week – it’s a really relaxed atmosphere and, not being someone who draws, I found it really interesting to see their pictures develop.”

The sessions take place in the Green Room at Mareel on Wednesday evenings between 7 and 9pm, from 9 November to 14 December.

Places for the sessions will be available to book from Friday 30 September through Shetland Box Office at Mareel and Isleburgh, over the phone on 01595 745555 or online at www.shetlandboxoffice.org

Potential models, of any age, size and gender, should email [email protected] to apply. There is a fee attached to the post.
