This week we had Shetland pianist Lewis Hall in the studio. He came to us with an album's worth of his own compositions and also some exciting ideas as to how he wanted to record them. Lewis didn't want a standard 'clean and shiny' recording of piano but wanted to experiment with recording in unusual spaces, using non-standard microphones, adding found sounds and applying effects to the piano. Needless to say we had a very interesting few days.
