This series of exciting events are supported by Culture Collective, a network of participatory arts projects, shaped by local communities alongside artists and creative organisations.
Work with filmmaker Liz Musser to create a stop motion animation. We’ll begin by deciding what to animate, and how, and then work together in groups to make it happen. In the first session we will write and storyboard and in the second session will shoot and edit.
Interested in learning about music technology such as synthesisers, beat programmers, music recording and editing? In these workshops David Boyter will introduce you to music making, allowing you to record and share your musical creations! Participants will learn the very basics of creating and recording music using the software.
All equipment provided. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
Ever wondered how the news is made? Bring along your ideas to contribute to a short news cast. We will report on what is going on in your neighbourhood? In the first session we will write and storyboard and in the second session will shoot and edit.
Come along and join us in developing a stage play for screen - Shetland Youth Theatre begun devising a piece last term but now we’re opening it up for everyone to join in, to continue devising and develop a performance suitable for film! These workshops are for actors, working with Director Stephenie Georgia. If you’d prefer to be behind the camera than in front of it, then you can join us in October to work with professional filmmakers to shoot and edit the piece.
The workshops will be from 17.30-19.00 on Wednesdays in Mareel from 30 August – 5 October (6 sessions) and then 25 October – 6 December (6 sessions). There will be a sharing of the finished piece in Mareel on 10 December 2023.

Work on a professional style theatre production shoot with filmmakers JJ Jamieson and Liz Musser. These workshops will cover working on the pre-production, shooting and editing of a piece devised and performed by the Culture Collective: Youth Theatre actors.
There will be a sharing of the finished product in Mareel on 10th December.
