Off the back of recording their new album The Cauld Wind at the studio in Mareel, Chris Stout and Finlay MacDonald, joined by master guitarist Ross Martin, will be returning to the venue for a thrilling live performance on Thursday 7 November, presented by Shetland Arts.
Finlay said: “We’re really excited to be playing Mareel as it was where we recorded out recently released album The Cauld Wind. We had been experimenting with different venues for almost two years because we wanted to use a space with a beautiful acoustic which would capture the overall sound that we produce - the Main Auditorium in Mareel was just the perfect place! And with the great expertise from Iain, Jonathan and all of the technical crew, we were delighted to be able to find the sound we had been searching for.”
Chris added: “Although a lot of the material is from the pipe repertoire, we have composed a fair chunk ourselves and looked to other contemporary composers for inspiration. We were lucky enough to have our long time friend and master guitarist Ross Martin to feature on the album and we're delighted he'll be joining us on the upcoming tour which kicks off in Shetland.”
