Presented by Shetland Arts in association with UHI/Shetland College
David Mach, Tuner prize nominated and well-renowned Scottish sculptor and installation artist, will be giving a talk about his life and work. With influences from Pop Art and consumerism, Mach employs a sense of performance and unexpectedness in his work, as well playing with a sense of scale and materiality, prompting us to reconsider our perceptions. Mach has produced public works of sculpture nation-wide, including the Big Heids, in Lanarkshire, visible form the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh. He is also known for his collage pieces, using thousands of reproduced images from magazines and mass produced media or objects. Mach now works from his studio in London and is installed as a Professor of Sculpture at the Royal Academy of Arts.
